30/03/2010: Details of the attractions being organised for the 1st May 2010 to raise money for the shed appeal have been announced. A concert featuring Shameless Quo and support will be held in the station concourse at Kidderminster (more details to follow), special tickets apply. In addition during the day a number of special driving experience courses will be undertaken, where you can can bid to take control of your favourite locomotive. Click here for more details.
17/03/2010: Now the final bills are in and the accounts have been confirmed, we are pleased to announce that the income from the Shed Appeal Raffle and donations have boosted the funds for the development by £9,600 and £560 respectively. A big “thank you” to everyone who took part for their generosity.
03/03/2010: The planning application for the new shed and associated spares storage facilities have been submitted. It is expected that the local authority will probably take a few months to review the application. To help fund the project a special day of events is being held at Kidderminster Severn Valley Railway station on the 1st May 2010. More details to follow, but put this date in your diary now.
15/02/2010: The results of tests on the site of the proposed shed have given the site a clean bill of health. Bore holes and soil tests have confirmed that the site is suitable for building and the surface soil is not as badly contaminated as it might have been.
13/10/2009: The Severn Valley Railway Association (SVRA) Diesel Shed Raffle was drawn on Saturday 10th October 2009 during the diesel gala. Over 14,000 tickets were entered and 10 lucky winners were drawn. Prize winners will be contacted formally by the SVRA in the next week or so. The shed committee would like to thank everyone who took part for their generosity.
25/04/2009: Following a commitee meeting held at Kidderminster it was confirmed that the ground on which the diesel shed is to be constructed at Kidderminster has been declared safe to drill down to a depth of 7 feet. This is following a recent soil survey which took place. Drilling will be capped there and concrete foundations will be inserted before the structural work for the diesel shed can commence.
